Wow !  A large Herkimer crystal with a large fluid filled inclusion.
Many incorrectly call these crystal enhydros. What's the difference? A scientist will tell you a fluid filled inclusion is fluid, generally water based, sealed within a crystal during its growth. While enhydro does mean fluid filled, this fluid is not necessarily sealed inside. A fracture could have allowed it to enter, and thus escape. In a nutshell, fluid in an enhydro crystal is able to move in and out of the stone, where as a fluid filled inclusion contains fluid that was trapped inside when the crystal formed. The fluid in this crystal has been there for 300-500 million years!  The inclusion is easily seen with the naked eye, but we will include a loupe as well.  When using a loupe, keep it against your eye and move the crystal to focus.  Rock the crystal gently to see the bubble of fluid move. Many of the photographs captured the fluid filled inclusion (enhydro).  The rest of the Herkimer is internally clean.
Externally, some growth blemishing is present, as the photographs show. They are minimal and do not detract from it's beauty, but rather prove authenticity. Grading is a very subjective yet important process when considering Herkimer Diamond quality. There is sometimes a fine line between each of the grades. When determining AA and A grades, size is an important consideration. Please rely on the photographs and descriptions of our Herkimer Diamonds to make your buying decisions; and be confident in knowing the descriptions of the crystals for sale are accurate and sincere. An AA grade Herkimer Diamond of this size is less than 1 in 100!
The double terminations are sharp and complete.  One is a traditional pointed tip, the other a chisel tip; a bit rare.
With its excellent clarity, smooth faces and a fluid filled inclusion (enhydro), this is a large, fantastic Herkimer crystal!
