| Notes: |
This Herkimer Diamond is double terminated and water clear. One termination is long, sharp and clean. The other has a lot going on. A small amount of anthraxolite surfaces at a well defined 3-sided key mark. An additional key mark is present here as well, but not so well defined. In fact, it's an unusual imprint, perhaps a key from anthraxolite as well as another crystal.
The phantom crystal and manifestation crystals are located at this termination as well. Phantom's are recognized by what appears to be the shadow of a crystal inside a larger crystal. The manifestation crystal is recognized by a small crystal totally enclosed within a larger crystal. Both are rare. The phantom is larger than the manifestation crystals in this quartz specimen. All are eye visible, but are really appreciated with a loupe.
It is a Herkimer Diamond with an interesting shape as well. One termination is sharp, while the other is a flat, chisel tip, giving the stone a old fashion coffin type shape.
With it's phantom and manifestation crystals, clarity and good definition, it's a Herkimer Diamond that will not disappoint. |
