The generous size of this Herkimer Diamond give it many large smooth facets; a couple measuring over 44 mm.
The majority of facets are intact and clean and the single large tip is just slightly blemished.
The many healed fractures inside the crystal are what really make it special specimen. A healed fracture occurred during the crystal's formation. Something caused a crack, or hesitation in growth, and the crystal continued growing. This caused the fracture, or inclusion to remain completely inside the gem stone, thus healing itself. Rainbows are abundant throughout the many facets.
Iron seeped into some of the larger fractures. When the Herkimer healed, the iron became trapped inside, giving the crystal golden healer properties.
This Herkimer Diamond just begs to be picked up and held. It would be an excellent specimen for a healer. Also for anyone starting a crystal specimen collection, especially for children. |
