Twin quartz crystals are popular gems for metaphysical pursuits. A twin crystal (also called twinning) is recognized as two individual quartz crystals that have grown together to the extent that they have merged, but terminated separately. Twinned crystals may be contact twins or penetration twins. These are both contact twins. Typically two crystals that have grown side to side and share a common facet point. Sizes and descriptions:
- Photographed above, the 11.5x9.5x7.5 mm / 3.8 ct. Herkimer Diamond twin. The crystals grew together to form a single term on one end, and each formed it's own termination on the other end, giving the crystal three termination points.
- The 13x10x10 mm / 6.75 ct. twin quartz is photographed below. These two crystal piggybacked, each terminating separately with double terminations. Three of the 4 terminations are sharp and clean.
While clarity is only fair, a twin quartz crystal is used metaphysically for its form rather than clarity. They have been used metaphysically to help find our soul-mate and promote togetherness.
